Including millisecond pulsars inside the core of globular clusters in pulsar timing arrays

چکیده

We suggest the possibility of including millisecond pulsars inside core globular clusters in pulsar timing array experiments. Since they are very close to each other, their gravitational wave-induced residuals expected be almost same, because both Earth and terms correlated. simulate residuals, due wave signal emitted by a uniform supermassive black-hole binary population, on cluster core. In this respect, Terzan 5 has been adopted as prototype and, our simulations, we similar distance, radius, number contained it. Our results show that presence strong correlation between can provide remarkable signature. This result therefore exploited for detection waves through timing, especially conjunction with standard cross-correlation search carried out collaborations.

Formation of Millisecond Pulsars in Globular Clusters

In this contribution we discuss how neutron stars are produced and retained in globular clusters, outlining the most important dynamical channels and evolutionary events that affect the population of mass-transferring binaries with neutron stars and result in the formation of recycled pulsars. We confirm the importance of electron-capture supernovae in globular clusters as the major supplier of...

Chandra on Millisecond Pulsars in Globular Clusters

We summarize the x-ray properties of the complete samples of millisecond pulsars (MSPs) detected in our Chandra observations of the globular clusters 47 Tuc and NGC 6397. The 47 Tuc MSPs are predominantly soft sources suggestive of thermal emission from the neutron star polar cap and have x-ray luminosities in a surprisingly narrow range (L x ∼1–4 ×10 30 erg s −1). The single MSP in NGC 6397 is...

The Orbital Eccentricities of Binary Millisecond Pulsars in Globular Clusters

Low-mass binary millisecond pulsars (LMBPs) are born with very small orbital eccentricities, typically of order e i 10 ?6 {10 ?3. In globular clusters, however, higher eccentricities e f e i can be induced by dynamical interactions with passing stars. Here we show that the cross section for this process is much larger than previously estimated. This is because, even for initially circular binar...

Chandra Studies of Millisecond Pulsars in Globular Clusters

The high resolution X-ray imaging and broad-band moderate resolution spectra enabled by the ACIS cameras on the Chandra X-ray Observatory have opened a new window in our study of millisecond pulsars (MSPs). Given the large excess of MSPs in globular clusters vs. the field, globular clusters are the favored sites for MSP study. Globular clusters (GCs) offer advantages of both known distance and ...

Pulsars in Globular Clusters

More than 100 radio pulsars have been detected in 24 globular clusters. The largest observed samples are in Terzan 5 and 47 Tucanae, which together contain 45 pulsars. Accurate timing solutions, including positions in the cluster, are known for many of these pulsars. Here we provide an observational overview of some properties of pulsars in globular clusters, as well as properties of the globul...
